CRISPY SMOKED CAULIFLOWER
Cauliflower is notably beneficial for acne-prone skin and overall skin health due to its rich content of sulfur compounds, such as glucosinolates & sulforaphane, which offer potent antioxidant & anti-inflammatory effects. These sulfur compounds support the body's detoxification processes, aiding in the elimination of toxins that would otherwise contribute to skin issues. Additionally, sulforaphane specifically demonstrates the ability to regulate sebum production, minimizing the occurrence of breakouts & promoting a clearer, healthier complexion.
The use of olive oil, rich in monounsaturated fats helps maintain skin moisture & combat inflammation, essential for reducing redness & irritation often associated with acne. The incorporation of nutritional yeast not only adds a savory flavor but also contributes essential B vitamins that play a role in skin cell turnover & renewal, promoting a smoother texture.
INGREDIENTS
• 4 cups cauliflower florets
• 3 tablespoons olive oil
• 3 tablespoons nutritional yeast
• 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
• 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
DIRECTIONS
Preheat your oven to 415°F.
Wash the cauliflower florets and pat them dry with a paper towel. Make sure they are completely dry, as this will help achieve crispiness during roasting.
In a small bowl, combine the nutritional yeast, sea salt, and smoked paprika. Mix well to evenly distribute the flavors.
Place the cauliflower florets on a large parchment lined baking sheet. Drizzle the olive oil over the florets and use your hands to toss them, ensuring they are evenly coated with the oil.
Sprinkle the combined seasoning mixture (nutritional yeast, sea salt, and smoked paprika) over the oiled cauliflower florets. Toss again to ensure the seasoning is evenly distributed.
Spread the seasoned cauliflower florets out in a single layer on the baking sheet. This will allow them to roast evenly and become crispy.
Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and roast the cauliflower for 30 to 40 minutes, or until the florets are golden brown and crispy on the edges.
About halfway through the roasting time, carefully remove the baking sheet from the oven and give the cauliflower florets a gentle toss to ensure even browning. Return the baking sheet to the oven to finish roasting.
Once the cauliflower is roasted to your desired level of crispiness, remove it from the oven. Transfer the roasted cauliflower to a serving dish and enjoy while they're still hot.
I make this a few times a week whenever i'm trying to add an extra side of veggies to a meal. This same preparation also works nicely for broccoli florets and is just as crispy & delicious.
